Wheels in the Well

As of 2:00 AM on the morning of  June 12th, 2017, the fourteen individuals above say their last goodbyes to Williams College as they face the three-week journey ahead. For some, our five seniors, it is the last time they leave the campus having arrived as students.

Eighty years ago, we would be heading to the harbor with a ticket for a five- day crossing of the Atlantic by ocean liner, which would carry our boats and oars in its hull. Though we won't be brining our shells, we expect to cause quite the ruckus at JFK's Virgin Atlantic terminal with our oar bags and equipment box at approximately 5 AM...

For most, this journey offers a welcome respite from the grind of our daily training regime that has taken over that of both training and academics after the end of finals. We will arrive in London at approximately 8 pm, GMT, Monday evening, weary in leg and eye, yet not without a healthy thirst for the Thames and a fire in the heart to take on what is to come.

Wheels up, game on...
